Kenneth Cole New York enters European market. Opens first store in Prague's Westfield Chodov

Kenneth Cole New York is entering the European market and has chosen Prague as the location for opening its first store. The boutique, with an area of almost 200 m2, is located in the Westfield Chodov shopping center, one of the most important retail destinations in Central Europe. The entire process of the brand's entry into the Czech market was arranged and overseen by the consulting company Colliers, which represented the client in the selection of the location and the lease negotiation.

The Kenneth Cole brand is known for its affordable portfolio that combines style and practicality. It has been on the market since 1982 and offers stylish clothing, footwear and accessories in the mid-price range. This includes brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. The mid-range fashion segment has been growing steadily in Europe, as customers increasingly seek a combination of quality design, brand name goods and more affordable prices.

In recent years, Prague has established itself as a major European shopping destination. The city is visited by nearly eight million tourists every year and, at the same time, the purchasing power and interest of customers in modern fashion brands from the mid-range segment, which includes Kenneth Cole, is growing. This combination was one of the reasons why Kenneth Cole chose Prague as the starting point for its European expansion.

"The traditional gateway for many international fashion brands to the Czech market tends to be large premium shopping centers, which includes locations like Westfield Chodov. The largest shopping center in the Czech Republic offers more than 300 stores and nearly 100,000 m² of retail space. This is why Kenneth Cole opened its first European boutique here," explains Stefanie Nguyenová from Colliers.

From analysis to signing the contract

Colliers entered the project in August 2025 and provided full representation of the tenant from the outset. "In practice, this meant an in-depth analysis of the client's needs, research into the current market offer, and preparation of an overview of suitable premises. This resulted in a shortlist of locations, which were then personally inspected," describes Stefanie Nguyenová.

A key part of Colliers' work was also conducting commercial and technical negotiations with the landlord and providing support in reviewing and negotiating the terms of the lease agreement. The entire process, from the initial analyses to the finalization of the contractual documentation, was completed in less than five months.

The result is a store with an area of almost 200 m2 in Westfield Chodov. The retail venue opened to the public this month.

"The interest of international fashion brands in entering Central European markets has grown in recent years. Thanks to its strong retail base, stable economy and high tourist traffic, Prague is one of the most attractive gateways to the region," adds Stefanie Nguyenová, noting that this is an important milestone for Kenneth Cole New York, having chosen a site from which its further expansion in Europe will unfold.
